About Us
A citizen-led civic movement for freedom, prosperity, and self-determination in British Columbia.
The B.C. Prosperity Project is a citizen-led civic movement, not a political party and not a lobby group. We exist because too many British Columbians feel shut out of decisions that affect their lives. Real change starts with honest conversation, clear information, and people willing to show up.
We do not want to leave Canada or British Columbia. But we recognize that Canada and B.C. have left many people behind - economically, socially, and politically.
Our Mission
- Explain why independence and a constitutional republic deserve serious discussion
- Lay out realistic paths toward greater provincial self-determination
- Stand up for individual freedoms and democratic participation
- Give people the tools and information they need to participate
- Organize constructive, fact-based dialogue in communities across BC

Who We Are
We work with individuals and community groups across the province to:
- Publish research and policy discussion pieces
- Cover the issues facing B.C. with facts, not talking points
- Host town halls and community events
- Build understanding of what independence and constitutional reform would actually look like
- Get people involved in democratic processes
We don't take government money. Everything runs on volunteers and supporters.
Our Story
How It Started
Peter LeTourneux had long seen the inequities baked into confederation and pushed for independence from Ottawa. With the Alberta Prosperity Project's example next door, he launched the BC Prosperity Project Facebook group on January 25. It grew fast, a clear sign that people were ready to talk about breaking from Ottawa's control.
The first meeting took place in Campbell River on February 2, drawing people from up and down Vancouver Island and the mainland, along with a sizeable group of protesters. The Lions Club Hall was nearly full. Chris Scott came down from Alberta to give the keynote.
Talk of BC separation had been simmering for years, but recent events cracked the discussion wide open. As Canada's trajectory worsens, people want to act. Regional and local groups are forming across the province, giving people a way to organize, raise funds transparently, and actually do something.
